Low Cost Of Living
Most people think that this way of life is beyond their grasp, that they can’t afford it, but they have no idea just how wrong they really are. The truth is that when you break it down, you can have a remarkable life down here, especially on the beach, and you can do it for a fraction of what it would cost back in the States!
No Hurricanes
One of the other main reasons why so many people choosing Ecuador over other popular destinations is due to the absence of hurricanes and other natural disasters that so many others have to worry about. The beaches along the Gulf of Mexico and East Coast of the States, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Panama ect, all have to be on the lookout for this constant yearly threat. You never truly know which year could be your home’s last. Being born and raised in Florida, I know all to well and have seen first hand the unbelievable detruction that hurricane season can cause. The beautiful beaches of Ecuador will never have to worry about these dangers, and it is one of the most peaceful things about the area.
The Weather...Eternal Springtime
The seasons and weather of Ecuador is very enjoyable with the dry season (summer) running from June to September and the wet season (winter) runs from October to May. As Ecuador is in the southern hemisphere, June to Sept. is winter, and winter is generally the dry season in warm climates. Ecuador’s coastal climate fluctuates from the low 60’s – low 90’s most of the year so the weather is usually perfect!
Ecuador is Paradise
There is just something surreal about living on the beach. It is so calm, peaceful and full of beauty. It is impossible to look out over the ocean and not get a real sense of pride, accomplishment, and gratefulness to be living this life.
WhyChoose Manta?

From International Living:
If you’d like to look out your window at the sparkling ocean and pristine beaches, but also have the opportunity to step outside to a bustling city if the beach life becomes too relaxing…then Manta, on Ecuador’s coast, is your best bet. With a population of 250,000, Manta is Ecuador’s only coastal metropolis and offers the same transportation, medical, and communication services as the larger cities of Quito and Guayaquil. A recent university study of population trends predicts that Manta will be Ecuador’s second most popular expat destination over the next 25 years, trailing only the Andean city of Cuenca.
Manta in my opinion is the best place to live in Ecuador! It is centrally located so you are within driving distance to so many great places to see and visit. It is the perfect mix of beach and city life, the local people are very friendly, the food is incredible and so much more!
The city just got $100 million in funding for updated infrastructure such as power grids, fiber optics, roads and other areas of beautification. It is the largest coastal city in Ecuador and offers all of the comforts of city life while giving you the peaceful relaxed vibe of the beach life. There is also a major mall currently being built that will be the largest of it’s kind in the area and will give you virtually everything you could possibly ask for. Manta boasts a fully functioning major airport that you can use to take advantage of super cheap flights to Quito, Cuenca, Guayaquil and more. They are currently in the process of upgrading it to a fully international airport at which time you will be able to travel the world even easier! One thing that everyone can agree on is the remarkable weather we have here in Manta! Being located in one of the drier regions means that we have a majority of sunshine year round. That combined with perfect sea-breezes makes for the kind of weather that everyone wishes for!

One of the best things is that Manta truly gives you the best of both worlds when it come to beach and city life. You can be in the city whereby you can have everything at your fingertips, but just a short drive out of town and you are on a remote beach with nobody else around!
Imagine, going out to a nice, high end, romantic dinner for only $40…for both of you! Or how about a great lunch on the beach for under $7! Or one of my personal favorites…a gallon of gas for $1.75!! Need prescription medication? No problem, and usually at a fraction of the cost back in the states.
What about dental work? How about 80% off the regular cost back home, and in a beautiful office with all the latest equipment! And of course the reason why we are talking…a condo on the beach…not $500k or more like back in the sates, but instead less than half!! Now you can start to get an idea of how you really can live the dream!

People often ask what the best thing about living in Ecuador is, but there isn’t just one thing. If I had to give my personal favorite of living here it would have to be the beach. I grew up as a water child and don’t see any chance of that changing any time soon. My father used to always say I must have been a dolphin in my former life.
The beach, while incredible, is still only one factor in our love of the area. The local people of Ecuador are also very high on the list. Sometimes it actually takes visitors a bit of time to get used to just how friendly people are here. Everyone says good morning, good afternoon, and good evening everywhere you go. The locals are also very interested in talking to new people moving down.
We get stopped regularly by friendly locals asking how long we have been here and how we like their country. They also ask if they can be of any assistance or if we are finding everything we need. There are always stories of friendly people offering to help others, and for no payment other than the smile on a face and a handshake.
The food is also a big plus! Manta offers some of the best fine dinning restaurants with all the enjoyment of a Ruth Chris, as well as some of the best “hole in the wall” places that will knock your socks off! My personal favorite for the best ceviche I have ever had is a small local billiards bar that most people would walk right by thinking “No way am I eating there!” But inside you find the friendliest people, a great owner, and the best ceviche in town!

For those of you seeking “out of the norm” activities, you have come to the right place! Imagine being able to wake up to a morning beach stroll and then take a quick 20 minute drive to see the monkeys in their natural jungle habitat! Or take a boat ride to Isla De La Plata (aka Little Galapagos), a beautiful island just off the coast where you can enjoy hiking, snorkeling, bird watching and other activities. Another short drive down the coast you will find Los Frailes, an incredible nature preserve beach cove with some of the best unspoiled views around!
If you crave even more adventure you can take a drive to Banos where you can rent 4 wheelers, hike up the mountains, explore hidden waterfalls, Horseback riding, get a thrill from zip lining, white water rafting, see an active Volcano and much more! There are also plenty of other weekend getaways you can schedule to go see volcanoes, valley lakes, vintage train rides through the mountains, and even being able to go visit the Amazon!
I’m sure by now you can really see just how great things are down here and why Ecuador is at the top of so many different lists! So, are your excuses more important than your dreams? Contact us today and let’s get you started in the right direction to an incredible life on the beach!
